How fiction, movies and poetry can mislead people and cause chaos and anarchy is an open secret now for almost all the people having good sense. When a friend of mine a big feudal here was declared clinically dead in a very young age I was having no option but to look into causes of his death, there was no first information report launched with police and his family was of the view that he has died natural death in age of forty years, after years of digging I was told that he was in love with his wife and she asked him to die so he had killed himself while acting in a manner defined by famous female poet Parveen Shakir in her Urdu language poetry killed by herself in accident, ‘mur jao kaha usnay or mein mur bhi gaya’ translation (she said die and as proof of my love for her I killed myself). Any how I lost my graduate friend but became curious about love and true love as well defined by fiction, movies and poetry here in subcontinent.
While going through Pushto poetry I have realized that all love stories narrated in songs were having tragic end, in Urdu poetry and even in fiction mostly tragic end of love has been highlighted often and we can find very stories having happy ending. The most popular tv drama written by Haseena Moeen titled as Tanhayan (loneliness) starts with demise of parents in love in a road accident of two main female characters of the drama so it the serial having great impact upon the minds of around the world was started with tragedy, which abhorrent to my mind when I was too young. Though I had met Haseena Moeen once accidentally at new year night in Marriot Islamabad as young student and had paid all the respect to her but was never a viewer of her tv dramas instead I used to see dramas of Usman and Sameena Peerzada mostly having some positive message in it.
I am disciple of Dr. Alamgir Hashmi whom had taught us a course regarding American poetry and culture and he by himself is a very good poet and we used to discuss love sometimes defined differently by different poets, once I was asked to define love and I answered plainly that I never had experienced it in a traditional sense defined by many here in subcontinent but of course I love humanity and work for the betterment of all.
In brief after the sad demise of my rich feudal friend after doing some research I had realized that along with other tools of exploitation some people can exploit simple people in the name of love too for worldly gains. True love actually is a reciprocal phenomena in nature in which two people do love and protect each other as well, and do make each other happy and successful though such kind of love is very rare these days.
PS: I HAVE WRITTEN THESE ABOVE LINES TO CONSOLE AND ENLIGHTENED A FRIEND LISTENING TO SAD SONGS HAVING EXPRESSION OF SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, ALL OTHERS CAN ALSO READ THIS FOR THEIR OWN GOOD.
